What you will do
- Build and ship features across the data model, API, and UI layers.
- Help split a monolith into services by defining boundaries, planning data migrations, and rolling out changes without downtime.
- Modernize legacy code incrementally where it provides value.
- Write concise design documents for non-trivial changes.
- Own production outcomes, including monitoring, alerts, and fixes.
- Design schemas, optimize queries, build operational reports, review code, and mentor engineers.
Requirements
- Solid experience building and running production software at a senior level.
- Strong PHP skills, with the ability to work with Go and Node as needed.
- Experience with relational database schema design, query performance, and migrations on live data.
- Experience improving large legacy codebases incrementally and writing tests for correctness-critical systems.
- Daily use of agentic AI coding tools, including the ability to explain how and where they are trusted.
- Working English, spoken and written, and the ability to collaborate directly with product, QA, and non-technical stakeholders.
Nice to have
- Production experience splitting a monolith into services.
- Daily operational experience with Kubernetes and Cloudflare.
- Experience with LLM-backed features, applied machine learning, recommendation or scoring systems.
- Background in payments, fintech, or iGaming.
- Experience with web scraping at scale, anti-bot handling, and proxies.
