Senior Security Risk Analyst (Security Engineering)

Location: Fully on-site in San Jose, hybrid, or fully remote from an approved U.S. location. Muon is currently registered and able to hire in AL, AZ, CA, CO, CT, DC, FL, GA, IL, IA, ID, MD, MA, MI, MN, MO, NJ, NY, NC, OH, OR, PA, TN, TX, VT, VA, and WA. Access to export-controlled information requires U.S. person status, eligibility without export authorization, or eligibility and a reasonable likelihood of obtaining the required authorization.

Salary: $154,000–$207,000 per year, plus equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Lead security risk assessments across engineering, IT, operations, finance, supply chain, and other business functions.
• Maintain the enterprise risk register and provide leadership with a current view of the security risk posture.
• Partner with risk owners to prioritize remediation and track identified risks through closure.
• Assess security risks associated with tools, vendors, third parties, architecture, and process changes.
• Define and apply risk methodologies covering likelihood, impact, risk acceptance, and exceptions.
• Map risks and controls to compliance requirements, support audits, report risk metrics, and recommend risk-reduction investments.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in information security, security engineering, security risk, or GRC roles.
• Hands-on experience conducting security risk assessments and managing a risk register.
• Strong understanding of risk frameworks and methodologies such as NIST RMF, NIST 800-30, or FAIR.
• Familiarity with NIST 800-171, CMMC, SOC 2, or ISO 27001.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for working with engineers and leadership.
• Must satisfy applicable U.S. export-control access requirements for ITAR/EAR information.

Nice to have

• CISSP, CRISC, CISA, or a similar certification.
• Experience in environments subject to ITAR/EAR export-control requirements.
