GFIT Intern, Software Development (AI)

Location: Penang, Malaysia, Suntech at Cybercity. Onsite office role; no travel required.

What you will do

• Work with experienced developers and a multi-site Agile team on applications used in manufacturing and R&D.
• Build and improve APIs, web interfaces, databases, automation, tests, and application integrations.
• Support InfoSec and application transformation initiatives across MES, R&D, and wafer applications.
• Use approved GenAI and agentic workflows to explore requirements, design solutions, generate code and tests, document work, and troubleshoot issues.
• Review AI-generated work for accuracy, security, maintainability, and production readiness.
• Apply secure coding practices and support access control, vulnerability remediation, audit, compliance, prototyping, and demonstrations.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• Comfortable with at least one of Java, Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, Angular, or .NET C#.
• Familiarity with web applications, REST APIs, databases, or Git through coursework, projects, hackathons, or internships.
• Experience building a software, web, data, automation, or AI project.
• Awareness of secure development, authentication, vulnerability management, monitoring, or system integration.
• English communication skills and a collaborative, self-motivated approach.

Nice to have

• Exposure to manufacturing, R&D, MES, factory applications, or enterprise application environments.
• Hands-on use of automated testing, monitoring, logging, or GenAI-assisted development tools.
• Interest in AI agents and AI-assisted software engineering.
