Backend Engineer (Python)

Location: Remote within Brazil

What you will do

• Design, build, and maintain backend services and internal APIs in Python.
• Administer and troubleshoot Linux-based production systems, including performance tuning and root-cause analysis.
• Write, optimize, and maintain MySQL queries and schemas for high-traffic production data.
• Use AI throughout development, debugging, testing, and unfamiliar-code analysis while reviewing generated code for quality, provenance, licensing, security, and compliance.
• Work across legacy and modern codebases, including Perl-based components, and contribute to platform modernization.
• Own production troubleshooting, participate in on-call rotation, and collaborate with senior engineers and cross-functional teams on technical decisions.

Requirements

• 3–5 years of backend development experience.
• Strong Python and Linux systems administration skills.
• Solid MySQL experience, including queries, schema design, and performance diagnosis.
• Experience using AI across the delivery lifecycle and reviewing AI-generated code with awareness of failure modes and data-handling boundaries.
• Experience in a collaborative Agile environment with sprint and release discipline.
• Strong production troubleshooting and incident-response ownership under pressure.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with Perl and cPanel environments.
