Software Engineering Manager - Control Plane

Location: Graz, Austria; on-site

Salary: Minimum €75,000 gross per year; the final salary depends on qualifications and experience and may be significantly higher.

What you will do

• Lead and grow a team covering backend, frontend, and security engineering, including hiring, performance reviews, development plans, and delivery ownership.
• Own the Control Plane roadmap and the complete service lifecycle, including SLAs, cost, on-call operations, and customer impact.
• Develop the public API experience for defense, intelligence, and enterprise integrators.
• Build usage, licensing, adoption, activation, and per-tenant behavior instrumentation.
• Deliver sovereign access-control capabilities including single sign-on, role-based access, and administration tooling.
• Represent the team in architecture and design reviews while maintaining availability, request success, and incident-quality standards.

Requirements

• At least two years of direct management experience for three or more software engineers, including performance and development ownership.
• Strong technical credibility in software design, resource management, consistency, and failure-mode analysis.
• Production experience shipping and operating backend services, ideally with Python and Kubernetes.
• Understanding of identity, authorization, and multi-tenancy concerns.
• Experience delivering software into customer-controlled environments, including on-premise, single-tenant, or air-gapped deployments.
• Ability to work effectively in writing within an async-first, distributed organization.

Nice to have

• Experience with FastAPI, Vue.js, TypeScript, Keycloak, Postgres, PostGIS, Redis, Docker, ArgoCD, and AWS.
