Data Governance Lead (AI)

Location: London TVC, London, United Kingdom

Salary: £70,000–£80,000 per year, plus £5,441 London Weighting Allowance and 15% bonus OTE.

What you will do

• Lead the continued development and implementation of the data governance framework, translating priorities into practical delivery plans.
• Establish data ownership, stewardship, accountability, quality standards, and governance adoption across the organisation.
• Embed governance into data platforms, products, engineering processes, architecture, and self-service analytics.
• Develop standards for data access, classification, metadata, lineage, retention, and usage.
• Manage and develop the data governance team and build a community of data owners and stewards.
• Advise senior stakeholders and represent data governance in data and AI initiatives, escalating material risks and issues.

Requirements

• Strong experience implementing data governance frameworks, policies, and standards in a complex organisation.
• Experience with line management and team development.
• Strong knowledge of ownership and stewardship, metadata, lineage, data quality, data risk, and policy development.
• Experience embedding governance into modern data platforms, data products, or self-service analytics.
• Experience implementing or using data catalogues, metadata platforms, lineage tools, or data quality technology.
• Understanding of privacy, security, legal, and regulatory obligations affecting data collection and use, with experience working with senior business and technology stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Experience governing data used in AI, machine learning, or automated decision-making.
• Knowledge of data product operating models, federated governance, or data mesh principles.
• Experience in media, operational risk management, cloud data platforms, SQL, Python, or analytical tools.
