Senior Lead Java Developer (AI)

Location: Uruguay; remote or hybrid work options are available.

What you will do

• Lead and mentor developers across solution design, development, testing, code reviews, and delivery.
• Design and build scalable, secure backend applications and services using Java and Spring Boot.
• Develop and optimize Java solutions for large, complex data sets while maintaining performance and reliability.
• Enhance existing products, develop new functionality, improve code, and resolve complex technical challenges.
• Translate client and business requirements into technical solutions and collaborate with architects, product stakeholders, and engineering teams.
• Use AI tools, including Claude, to improve development workflows, quality, and team practices.

Requirements

• Hands-on experience with Java backend development and a full understanding of the software development life cycle.
• Ability to lead, mentor, motivate, coach, and support other developers.
• Experience with solution design, project oversight, deliverable execution, code quality, testing, maintainability, and secure coding.
• Strong consultative problem-solving skills and the ability to align digital solutions with client business goals.
• Good interpersonal, written, verbal communication, presentation, and collaboration skills.
• Willingness to adopt, experiment with, and champion AI tools and methodologies.

Nice to have

• Claude Certified Developer or Architect certification.
• Experience with AI or a proven ability to learn and mentor others on emerging technologies.
