Distinguished Engineer, Content Platform

Location: San Mateo, California, United States; office-based roles are onsite Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with optional presence on Monday and Friday.

Salary: $399,420–$457,970 USD per year in base pay.

What you will do

• Define the long-term strategy, architecture, and priorities for the Content Platform.
• Lead multidisciplinary engineering teams building distributed systems for asset creation, upload, storage, indexing, delivery, and rendering.
• Oversee a backend service handling more than 100 million requests per second.
• Drive reliability, scalability, operational excellence, security, and cost efficiency at global scale.
• Collaborate with product, infrastructure, and developer platform teams to align engineering initiatives with creator and platform needs.
• Guide technical roadmaps, projects, and outcomes across the content platform.

Requirements

• 12+ years of experience building high-impact, consumer-facing applications at scale.
• Deep expertise in backend engineering, distributed systems, and large-scale infrastructure.
• Experience delivering high-performance and reliable platforms in high-traffic production environments.
• Strong cross-functional collaboration experience.
• Product-minded approach and understanding of developer needs, asset workflows, and backend impact on user experience.
• BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience is preferred.
