Lead Automation Engineer (Fintech)

Location: Lisbon, Portugal. The role starts fully remote and will move to a hybrid setup with two days per week onsite once the Lisbon office opens.

Salary: €65,000–€75,000 per year

What you will do

• Define and own testing strategies for domains such as payments, banking, and onboarding.
• Design, develop, and maintain automated API, UI, and mobile tests.
• Embed quality practices into product refinement and development through a shift-left approach.
• Integrate automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines and establish reliable quality gates.
• Coordinate microservices, security, performance, component, service virtualization, and contract testing.
• Coach developers and junior QA engineers while applying AI tools to architecture exploration, incident investigation, and test generation.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in QA Automation or SDET roles, including quality leadership in an Agile team.
• Strong proficiency in C# or JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Experience testing complex financial systems such as card issuing, transaction processing, or credit risk.
• Hands-on experience with Playwright or Cypress and REST Assured or other API testing frameworks.
• Familiarity with Azure, Git, and integrating automated tests into deployment workflows.
• Ability to influence developers and Product Owners to prioritize automation and quality.
