Senior Software Development Engineer (AI)

Location: Boulder, Colorado, USA; hybrid work with at least 50% of each quarter spent in the office or in the field.

Salary: $156,000–$234,000 annual base salary for Boulder; additional US locations offer $148,200–$264,000.

What you will do

• Lead technical design decisions for a high-throughput AI model-serving platform.
• Design, implement, and maintain distributed systems that move ML models into production.
• Build infrastructure for hosting and scaling traditional ML models and open-weight LLMs.
• Improve performance, reliability, observability, and cost governance across production services.
• Troubleshoot alerts, debug production incidents, and scale continuous integration pipelines.
• Collaborate with software engineers, ML engineers, and data scientists while mentoring engineers and documenting technical decisions.

Requirements

• 6+ years of software development experience focused on large-scale distributed systems.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Deep production experience with Python, distributed systems, and the full software development lifecycle.
• Hands-on Kubernetes and GPU infrastructure experience, including GPU utilization, inference engines such as vLLM or TGI, LoRA, and hardware-metric autoscaling.
• Knowledge of serving, scaling, and monitoring both LLMs and traditional ML models in production.
• Strong observability, communication, design documentation, consensus-building, and engineering mentorship skills.
