Lead Senior Science Writer (Cancer Research)

Location: Fully remote within Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Connecticut, or Rhode Island, with 0–1 onsite days per week at 10 Brookline Place, Brookline, MA. Occasional evening or weekend work may be required.

What you will do

• Research and interpret scientific papers, clinical trial results, press releases, technical lectures, and cancer care developments.
• Interview clinicians, investigators, cancer care professionals, donors, and faculty to gather scientific context, results, quotes, and source material.
• Plan and write long-form donor reports that demonstrate the impact of philanthropic giving.
• Translate complex biomedical concepts accurately and clearly for primarily non-scientific audiences.
• Collaborate with philanthropy colleagues, senior leaders, and cross-disciplinary teams on tone, content, strategy, and deadlines.
• Review and edit scientific content for accuracy and help other writers interpret research findings and data.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree.
• At least 5 years of professional experience.
• Strong scientific writing, research, analysis, editing, and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to preserve scientific accuracy and nuance while communicating complex information to non-scientific audiences.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines independently and collaboratively.
• Ability to work remotely from an eligible New England state and attend the Brookline campus occasionally.
