Chief Compliance Officer (Bitcoin)

Location: Remote in the United States, or in-office in New York City or Columbus, Ohio

Salary: $200,000–$300,000 per year, plus equity

What you will do

• Lead and grow the compliance analyst team, including hiring, development, and operating standards.
• Serve as BSA Officer and own BSA/AML, OFAC sanctions, policies, monitoring, investigations, and reporting.
• Build compliance policies, procedures, training, risk assessments, testing, and monitoring programs.
• Maintain state money transmitter licenses and drive the OCC national trust charter process with leadership, counsel, and consultants.
• Manage regulator, bank partner, audit, examination, and third-party assessment relationships from preparation through remediation.
• Provide compliance sign-off for new products and features and advise the executive team and Board on regulatory strategy and emerging risk.

Requirements

• Deep experience building and operating compliance programs at a regulated financial institution, ideally as a BSA Officer.
• Experience managing regulatory examinations and audits and building relationships with regulators and bank partners.
• Direct OCC experience; charter application experience is strongly preferred.
• Strong people leadership experience managing and developing compliance analysts.
• Excellent communication skills across examiners, the Board, executives, engineers, and cross-functional partners.
• Strategic, proactive, systems-oriented judgment and comfort operating in a fast-growing company.

Hiring process

• 30-minute introductory interview with the COO.
• One-hour first-round interview with two employees, followed by a prompted written assessment.
• Final one-hour interview with leadership, including the founder and CEO.
