Head of Civil Engineering (HVDC)

Location: Hybrid work based in the United Kingdom, with locations including Newcastle upon Tyne, Glasgow, London, Reading, Aberdeen, and Manchester; travel to UK construction sites and engineering teams is required.

What you will do

• Lead a multidisciplinary civil engineering team within the Grid Technologies division.
• Oversee the full civil engineering delivery lifecycle, from business development, tenders, negotiation, and FEED through project execution.
• Manage civil engineering designs, procurement, supply chain engagement, resources, budgets, and subcontractors.
• Define policies, processes, technical standards, and delivery methods in line with regional regulations.
• Ensure quality, safety, and regulatory compliance across EPC projects involving HVDC, offshore wind, and grid stabilization systems.
• Promote digital construction solutions and implement IEC 19650 within projects.

Requirements

• Degree or HND in Civil or Structural Engineering, or an equivalent qualification.
• Typically 10 years of professional managerial experience in the industry.
• Chartered status with a relevant professional body.
• Comprehensive knowledge of civil engineering standards for TSOs, DNOs, and renewable projects in Great Britain and Ireland.
• Experience with health and safety requirements, including Construction (Design and Management) regulations, and building services coordination.
• Willingness to travel to global engineering teams, construction delivery partners, and UK construction sites.
