TL;DR
Systems Engineer I (Data Center Infrastructure): Installing, relocating, removing, and maintaining servers, network switches, storage systems, racks, and structured cabling in a mission-critical data center environment with an accent on copper and fiber optic cabling, physical infrastructure support, and operational safety. Focus on troubleshooting cabling, supporting 24x7x365 operations across varied shifts, and performing physically demanding work in production data centers.
Location: Mount Prospect, Illinois, United States; hybrid on-site schedule Tuesday–Thursday. Travel to company data centers and colocation facilities may be required, with up to 15% travel. Third-shift work from 10:00 PM to 6:30 AM may be required after training, including weekends and holidays.
Salary: $30–$35 per hour

What you will do
- Install, relocate, remove, and maintain servers, network switches, storage systems, racks, and structured cabling.
- Install, label, and troubleshoot copper and fiber optic cabling.
- Travel to company data centers and colocation facilities as needed.
- Support a 24x7x365 production data center operation across shifts, weekends, and holidays.
- Perform physical installation and maintenance work safely in raised-floor, overhead-cable, ladder, and confined-space environments.
- Follow data center operational standards and safety procedures while working independently and with a team.
Requirements
- Technical data center experience with server installations, data cabling, and data center adds, moves, and changes.
- Ability to work third-shift hours after training and provide weekend coverage when required.
- Ability to lift and move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work on ladders and in confined or raised-floor environments.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills.
- Willingness to travel up to 15% of the time.

- Experience with electrical or low-voltage wiring.
