Tech Lead Manager, TikTok Core Product SRE

Location: San Jose, United States; fully in-person schedule up to 5 days a week

Base salary: $208,800–$438,000 annually, with potential additional bonuses, incentives, and restricted stock units.

What you will do

• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to a team of Site Reliability Engineers.
• Drive architectural decisions for large-scale, globally distributed service mesh architectures.
• Establish production ownership models, incident response protocols, service level objectives, and error budgets.
• Develop roadmaps for observability and automation initiatives that improve system reliability.
• Balance hands-on technical contributions with career development, performance evaluations, and team growth.
• Lead security initiatives with security and compliance teams to protect critical assets and data.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience designing, analyzing, and troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems, relational databases, caching solutions, and web service frameworks.
• Experience leading a small to mid-size team while maintaining significant hands-on technical contributions.
• Strong understanding of Unix/Linux internals and networking fundamentals.
• Production-grade programming experience in Go, Python, Java, or similar languages.
• Experience implementing SRE best practices, service level objectives, and error budgets.
• Availability to work fully onsite in San Jose, with an in-person schedule of up to 5 days per week.

• Deep expertise in algorithms, data structures, systems design, and complex technical architecture.
• Experience building automation tools and developer-friendly APIs that reduce operational toil.
• Experience running highly available web services at massive scale with cloud-native architectures and advanced networking.
