Principal Scientist, Operations Research & Decision Science (R&D DDSAI - Therapeutics Development & Supply)

What you will do

• Formulate and solve optimization problems covering portfolio prioritization, resource allocation, capacity planning, and scheduling.
• Design, build, validate, and maintain digital twins and simulations for therapeutics development, manufacturing, and clinical supply operations.
• Develop reusable Python workflows and decision-support products with optimization, simulation, scientific computing, and cloud-based tools.
• Apply software engineering practices including modular design, version control, testing, documentation, reproducibility, and code review.
• Partner with data engineering, product, architecture, platform, finance, supply chain, and technical operations teams to embed models into enterprise workflows.
• Lead technical initiatives, communicate model results to technical and non-technical audiences, and mentor colleagues and collaborators.

Requirements

• Advanced degree in operations research, industrial engineering, systems engineering, applied mathematics, management science, computer science, chemical engineering, or a related quantitative field.
• At least 5 years of experience applying optimization, simulation, stochastic modeling, decision analysis, or related operations research methods.
• Depth in at least two areas including mathematical programming, discrete-event simulation, stochastic optimization, scheduling, network optimization, resource allocation, inventory optimization, or decision-making under uncertainty.
• Strong Python skills and practical experience with tools such as Pyomo, Gurobi, CPLEX, OR-Tools, SimPy, AnyLogic, Simio, or Arena.
• Demonstrated delivery of computational models or decision-support products that influenced significant operational or business decisions.
• Ability to provide technical leadership while remaining a hands-on individual contributor.

Nice to have

• Ph.D. in operations research, industrial engineering, systems engineering, applied mathematics, management science, or a related discipline.
• Experience in pharmaceutical development, CMC, manufacturing, clinical supply, supply chain, portfolio planning, capacity planning, or resource planning.
• Experience deploying optimization, simulation, or digital twin solutions as durable enterprise products.
• Experience integrating forecasting, machine learning, or AI with prescriptive models and decision-support systems.
