Senior Construction Manager (Data Center Construction)

Location: West Chicago, Illinois, United States; on-site owner’s representative with regular travel to project sites

Base salary: $143,000–$210,000 per year, plus discretionary bonus, equity awards, and benefits.

What you will do

• Lead hyperscale data center construction projects from pre-construction through close-out.
• Act as the on-site owner’s representative and oversee general contractors, contracts, budgets, master schedules, and Ready-for-Service dates.
• Coordinate and commission MEP, electrical, and low-voltage systems.
• Conduct on-site progress inspections, verify work against drawings and specifications, and validate construction quality.
• Identify and address schedule, cost, quality, and delivery risks while providing leadership with project updates.
• Travel regularly to project sites to monitor progress and support successful completion.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Architecture, Engineering, or a related field.
• At least 7 years of construction project management experience, including at least 3 years managing data center construction projects with a strong MEP focus.
• Experience managing projects with contract values of $100 million or more.
• Deep understanding of data center infrastructure, power distribution, cooling systems, redundancy protocols, construction methodologies, and cost estimation.
• Experience with web-based project management software and on-site contractor inspections.
• Valid driver’s license with no significant motor vehicle violations.
• Access to export-controlled information requires U.S. person status, eligibility without export authorization, or eligibility and reasonable likelihood of obtaining the required U.S. authorization.

Nice to have

• PMP certification.
• LEED AP certification.
• Experience with electrical and low-voltage equipment coordination, commissioning, or quality assurance.
