Director of Legal Engineering (AI)

Location: Dubai, United Arab Emirates; office-based five days per week with regular travel across the UAE and the wider Middle East

What you will do

• Establish and lead the Legal Engineering function for the Middle East from the Dubai office, including its operating rhythm, quality standards, capacity, and staffing model.
• Hire Legal Engineers and build a manager layer with clear decision rights, career development, succession, and performance standards.
• Partner with commercial leadership on priority accounts, pilots, rollouts, escalations, adoption, expansion, and revenue.
• Lead selected enterprise engagements by translating complex legal problems into Legora workflows and reusable playbooks.
• Govern complex, multi-stakeholder programmes through clear ownership, risk reviews, metrics, and delivery standards.
• Represent regional customer needs, Arabic-language requirements, local content gaps, and hosting considerations to Product and company leadership.

Requirements

• Substantial experience with sophisticated legal work in the Gulf and credibility with senior legal buyers in the region.
• A legal qualification and experience building a team, function, market, or operating model from a low base.
• Experience managing and developing strong people, ideally including managers or team leads.
• Strong understanding of generative AI, product use-case design, legal technology, and enterprise software; software engineering experience is not required.
• Ability to work with managing partners, general counsel, executive teams, and delivery professionals while connecting legal engineering to commercial outcomes.
• Fluent English is required; Arabic is strongly preferred and materially useful.

Nice to have

• Experience in a leading law firm, in-house legal function, legal operations, legal innovation, professional services, or legal technology.
• Experience working across federal law, emirate-level systems, DIFC, ADGM, and wider Gulf jurisdictions.
• Arabic-capable team coverage and experience with local data protection or hosting requirements.
