Senior Scientist I, R&D; Process Engineering (Biotech)

What you will do

• Develop robust manufacturing processes for drug substances, drug products, biologics, toxins, and cosmetic active ingredients across pre-clinical and clinical development.
• Establish research plans and conduct hands-on laboratory process development, asset characterization, scale-up, and pilot plant demonstrations.
• Solve challenging reaction, separation, and isolation problems using reaction kinetics, transport phenomena, mathematical modeling, and engineering fundamentals.
• Support process optimization, control strategy development, risk assessments, technology transfer, and manufacturing campaigns.
• Prepare technical reports and regulatory filing content, and communicate findings with chemistry, analytical, engineering, manufacturing, program management, and regulatory teams.
• Author scientific publications and present process development work at conferences.

Requirements

• BS, MS, or PhD in Chemical Engineering, Bioengineering, or a related field.
• Relevant industrial experience: 10+ years with a BS, 8+ years with an MS, or 0+ years with a PhD.
• Strong chemical engineering background and the ability to solve difficult technical problems.
• Ability to champion new technologies, establish research plans, and deliver project goals.
• Strong teamwork, oral communication, and written communication skills.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of UV/Vis, HPLC, FTIR, Raman, mass spectrometry, and microscopy.
• Experience with laboratory experimentation, process scale-up, mechanistic or process modeling, or computational fluid dynamics.
• Experience with design of experiments, statistical tools, process equipment, control strategies, risk assessments, and technology transfer.
• Familiarity with GxP compliance.
