Data Engineer - Protect (South)

Location: Reigate or Edinburgh, United Kingdom. Hybrid working with typically two days per week onsite.

Salary: From £33,040 plus annual bonus and benefits.

What you will do

• Build and maintain data flows, data acquisition processes, and efficient data marts for business analysis.
• Collect, analyse, format, and report data for internal and external stakeholders.
• Contribute to existing and new SAS-based applications and deliver defined engineering outcomes.
• Develop and maintain the data warehouse using SAS and SQL.
• Maintain data dictionaries and support data quality, security, architecture, availability, and performance.
• Troubleshoot data issues, process requests, monitor risks, and escalate business-impacting problems.

Requirements

• Strong data analysis, investigative, problem-solving, and recommendation skills.
• Clear verbal and written communication with non-technical colleagues.
• In-depth Microsoft Office knowledge, particularly Excel.
• Strong organisation skills and the ability to meet tight deadlines.
• High attention to detail and commitment to accurate outputs.
• Experience developing strong working relationships in a dynamic environment.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of SQL and SAS.
• Experience with SAS Viya, Jira, Fabric, or GitHub.
• Insurance or other financial services experience.
• Experience with established procedures or systems and evidence of learning technical skills.
• STEM degree.
