Director of Infrastructure (Cloud Security)

Location: Flexible - Italy; remote

What you will do

• Own the end-to-end cloud infrastructure strategy across a global, multi-cloud footprint.
• Drive measurable cost optimization through rightsizing, committed spend, tagging, chargeback discipline, and waste reduction.
• Partner with executives on infrastructure investments, roadmaps, budgets, and build-versus-buy decisions.
• Manage cross-functional dependencies with Security, Data, and Product Engineering.
• Build, mentor, and lead infrastructure, platform, and SRE teams.
• Own security posture, disaster recovery, compliance, incident management, reliability, and infrastructure-as-code quality.

Requirements

• 8+ years of infrastructure or platform engineering experience, including 4+ years leading infrastructure strategy and budgets.
• Deep hands-on experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure, including Terraform, Pulumi, or similar infrastructure-as-code tools and networking fundamentals.
• Experience with Kubernetes, containerized environments, cloud-native technologies, and scalable event-driven infrastructure.
• Experience building high-availability, fault-tolerant platforms and managing distributed or European teams.
• Strong people-management, cross-functional leadership, cost-optimization, and C-level communication experience.
• Ability to work remotely from Italy and address EU considerations such as GDPR and data residency.

Nice to have

• Experience or strong interest in cloud-native cybersecurity, CNAPP, or FinOps.
• Knowledge of EU labor-law considerations.
