Senior Machine Learning Engineer (AI)

Location: Must be based in or able to commute to San Francisco, CA (Hybrid: Tuesdays and Thursdays in-office)

Salary: $180,000 – $220,000

What you will do

• Evolve agentic search architectures that combine LLMs and retrieval systems to answer complex queries.
• Design and execute benchmarks and experiments to measure and improve search quality.
• Build and maintain NLP/LLM pipelines to process raw contract documents for retrieval.
• Collaborate with ML and infrastructure engineers to operate flagship AI capabilities.
• Contribute to the company's overall search quality standards.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience building production systems in search, information retrieval, or recommendation systems.
• Expertise in learned/hybrid retrieval, query understanding/NLU pipelines, or production LLM agent systems.
• Experience with search frameworks like Elasticsearch, Solr, Vespa, or OpenSearch.
• Fluency with modern LLM APIs and multi-provider orchestration (Anthropic, OpenAI, Google).
• Proven ability to build eval-driven workflows including offline benchmarks and regression detection.
• Must have authorization to work in the US.
