Software Engineer, Device Security, Level 4

Location: Los Angeles or San Diego, United States. Office work is expected 4+ days per week under hirify.global's default-together policy.

Base salary: $133,000–$200,000 annually for Zone C, $149,000–$223,000 annually for Zone B, or $157,000–$235,000 annually for Zone A, plus eligibility for RSUs.

What you will do

• Design, build, and harden on-device security systems for Specs, including permissions, access control, secure IPC, sandboxing, and trusted execution boundaries.
• Develop security and privacy controls for on-device AI, including model integrity, sensitive data handling, inference-time privacy, local policy enforcement, and secure access to sensors and user data.
• Implement security features across hirify.global OS, firmware, applications, system services, and cloud-connected device surfaces.
• Improve fuzzing infrastructure, automated security testing, and continuous validation pipelines for operating-system components, drivers, firmware interfaces, parsers, services, IPC mechanisms, and AI-related data flows.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 2 years of experience building security, privacy, or platform-protection features for Linux-based, embedded, mobile, wearable, or connected-device systems.
• Experience with applied cryptography, authentication, authorization, secure communications, key management, threat modeling, vulnerability assessment, or embedded and Linux-based system security.
• Knowledge of Linux-based system security, embedded operating systems, secure software architecture, trusted execution boundaries, permission systems, sandboxing, service isolation, and platform hardening.
• Ability to perform security analysis, secure code review, fuzzing, static analysis, dynamic analysis, and automated security validation across OS, firmware, and AI/ML boundaries.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree or PhD in a relevant technical discipline.
• 5+ years of production software development experience with C, C++, or Rust.
• Experience securing on-device AI or ML systems and building permission, sandboxing, secure IPC, attestation, provisioning, anti-rollback, secure-debug, or lifecycle-management technologies.
