Senior Software Engineer (Security)

Location: Remote in Canada or the United States

Salary: USA — $215,000–$325,000 base salary in California, New York, and Washington; $180,000–$275,000 in other US states. Canada — CA$260,000–CA$385,000 base salary. Equity offered.

What you will do

• Build and ship production security features for North, including OIDC/OAuth flows and session management.
• Write secure Python code for OIDC tokens, user claims, sensitive data, JWT validation, and encryption.
• Implement authentication, token management, and authorization checks.
• Integrate tools that strengthen North's security capabilities.
• Design secret management in Kubernetes clusters, including encryption and RBAC.
• Communicate security practices clearly to non-security engineers and other stakeholders.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience building user-facing security features in production systems.
• Strong production Python experience.
• Deep knowledge of OIDC/OAuth 2.0, JWT validation, and token lifecycle management.
• Hands-on Kubernetes experience in development and production environments.
• Experience with GCP, AWS, Azure, or hybrid and multi-cloud deployments.
• Ability to work across the stack and explain security concepts clearly.

Nice to have

• Experience with AI/ML systems or LLM-based applications.
• Experience working in fast-moving environments with evolving priorities.
