Senior Back-End Engineer (CX) - Coupang Play

Location: Singapore, Singapore. Applicants with a current right to work in Singapore who do not require company sponsorship for an employment visa are prioritized.

What you will do

• Design and own the architecture roadmap for Live Sports and Discover APIs.
• Develop, support, and improve highly available and scalable backend systems serving millions of customers.
• Formulate scalable, low-latency technical solutions for product requirements.
• Lead key projects involving new APIs for strategic growth areas such as live sports streaming.
• Mentor engineers and establish best practices for code quality, system performance, and operational excellence.
• Collaborate with product, design, mobile, quality engineering, and other stakeholders on technical and compliance requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree and 2+ years of experience in server application and systems engineering.
• Deep expertise in low-latency, high-throughput systems, performance profiling, and cost-performance trade-offs.
• Expertise in one or more backend programming languages: Go, Java, JavaScript, or Node.js.
• Proficiency with modern cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Current right to work in Singapore is prioritized; company sponsorship for an employment visa is not preferred.

Nice to have

• Production experience with video streaming and related data systems.
• Experience integrating and troubleshooting mobile applications with backend APIs.
• Experience with GraphQL.
• Professional English communication skills.
