Confluent Software Engineer - Cloud Compute Platform (Kubernetes/Go)

Location: Remote within the United States; listed locations include Poughkeepsie, Lowell, Rochester, Tucson, Research Triangle Park, Armonk, Boston, Bellevue, Atlanta, San Jose, Dallas, Austin, San Francisco, and Seattle. Some travel may be required based on business demand.

Salary: $131,000–$245,000 per year.

What you will do

• Build and evolve a multi-tenant cloud-native compute platform for Confluent Cloud workloads.
• Develop multi-cluster workload orchestration for placement, lifecycle, and state management across Kubernetes clusters.
• Design platform APIs and Kubernetes operators in Go.
• Implement workload scheduling, disruption management, network isolation, rolling updates, and cross-cluster resource management.
• Lead technical design reviews, architectural decisions, and end-to-end delivery across teams.
• Own availability, reliability, performance monitoring, emergency response, and disaster recovery for global compute infrastructure.

Requirements

• Must be able to work without current or future visa sponsorship.
• Bachelor's degree required; master's degree preferred.
• 5+ years of experience delivering scalable software solutions.
• Deep Kubernetes expertise, including controller development, operator patterns, and multi-cluster architectures.
• Strong Go proficiency and experience building production-grade distributed systems.
• Experience with highly available, low-latency systems, multi-tenant architectures, security isolation, and cross-functional technical delivery.

Nice to have

• Experience with observability tools and operational excellence practices.
• Experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, and cloud-provider integrations.
• Technical leadership, mentorship, gRPC, Protobuf, and internal platform API design experience.
