Sr. Manager, Global Packaging Engineering

Location: Must be based in Madrid, Spain; willingness to travel globally to suppliers, manufacturing locations, and project sites is required.

What you will do

• Define and implement the global Packaging Engineering strategy covering standardization, quality, sustainability, safety, and cost optimization.
• Lead, develop, and allocate resources for the global Packaging Engineering team across regions and time zones.
• Represent Packaging Engineering in new product introduction and development from early design through industrialization and launch.
• Develop and deploy returnable packaging programs, including technical solutions, business cases, supplier implementation, and operational rollout.
• Establish global packaging standards, specifications, guidelines, validation requirements, KPIs, and governance.
• Partner with Engineering, Product Management, Quality, Procurement, Manufacturing, Logistics, Operations, suppliers, and customer sites to improve packaging performance, automation, sustainability, product protection, and total landed cost.

Requirements

• 15+ years of experience in industrial Packaging Engineering within manufacturing or a packaging solutions provider.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering with packaging specialization, or an equivalent technical background.
• Strong knowledge of industrial packaging materials, design, specifications, validation, returnable packaging, and expendable packaging solutions.
• Proven experience implementing returnable packaging programs and leading technical teams across locations and time zones.
• Experience in a global manufacturing, automotive, energy, or similar industrial environment, with strong cross-functional and supplier collaboration skills.
• Fluent English and residence in Madrid, Spain are required.
