Mid AI Engineer (FinTech)

Location: Larnaca, Cyprus; hybrid work model with 2 days working from home

What you will do

• Build and ship internal AI services end to end, from data pipelines and models to APIs used by other teams.
• Develop asynchronous REST APIs and microservices with FastAPI and Kubernetes for model serving and agent tool orchestration.
• Implement retrieval pipelines using PostgreSQL and pgvector, including chunking, embedding, indexing, retrieval tuning, and evaluation.
• Build training pipelines for data preparation, fine-tuning, evaluation, model registration, and production model promotion.
• Integrate agent tools and Model Context Protocol endpoints with tool-level access controls.
• Create evaluation sets, structural output checks, drift monitoring, structured logging, Prometheus metrics, and OpenTelemetry tracing; review and support the work of junior engineers and trainees.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• 3+ years of backend software development experience, including production delivery of at least one machine learning or LLM application.
• Strong proficiency in Python and FastAPI, with solid PostgreSQL and SQL knowledge.
• Practical experience with retrieval-augmented generation, prompt design, structured outputs, and model-quality evaluation.
• Experience with Docker, Git, CI/CD, and containerized environments such as Kubernetes; working knowledge of a major cloud platform, ideally AWS.
• Full professional proficiency in English and legal authorization to work in Cyprus are required.

Nice to have

• Production experience with vector search tools such as pgvector, OpenSearch, or Qdrant.
• Exposure to multi-agent frameworks, Model Context Protocol, model registries, MLflow, or open-weight model serving with vLLM.
• Familiarity with ClickHouse, OpenTelemetry, Grafana, or Langfuse.
• Experience with FinTech platforms, FX trading, or financial services operations.
