TL;DR
Principal Product Designer (Genomics): Leading product design across a group of products for an adult population genomics programme sequencing 150,000 genomes, with an accent on user-centred discovery, healthcare experience design, and regulatory compliance. Focus on solving complex product challenges, shaping product strategy, coordinating designers, and reducing user, feasibility, and design risks across multidisciplinary teams.
Location: Hybrid working in the United Kingdom, with office attendance expected at least twice a month. Offices are located in London, Cambridge and Leeds.
Salary from: £71,800 per year

What you will do
- Lead design strategy and delivery across a group of products within the Adult Population Genomics Programme.
- Solve complex product and design problems through structured discovery, research, and user-centred methods.
- Co-create product experience visions and strategies with Product Managers, multidisciplinary squads, and subject matter experts.
- Coordinate and support other designers while maintaining consistent, high-quality design across products.
- Facilitate decision-making and co-creation with internal and external stakeholders.
- Identify and reduce user, feasibility, regulatory, and product design risks.
Requirements
- Strong product design experience with a record of delivering impactful, high-quality product experiences.
- Experience solving complex design problems, conducting product discovery, and supporting strategic product direction.
- Experience leading design strategy and delivery across multiple products and coordinating designers.
- Experience working with engineering, data, product, research, and subject matter experts in multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience balancing qualitative and quantitative insights in evidence-based, hypothesis-led design.
- Experience working in agile environments and designing within relevant regulatory frameworks.
Nice to have
- Experience designing to the Government Digital Service Standard.
- Experience in healthcare, science, public-sector, highly regulated, or risk-sensitive environments.
- Experience with design systems and scalable design workflows.
- Understanding of engineering constraints and technical feasibility.
- Awareness of ethical, compliance, and regulatory considerations when designing products using sensitive data.
