Tax, Operations, Vice President, Tokyo

What you will do

• Manage Japan withholding tax operations and provide oversight across APAC obligations, including Hong Kong stamp duty.
• Oversee tax determination, reconciliations, reporting, remittances, documentation and exception management.
• Identify and remediate operational, regulatory and control risks, including audit and assurance findings.
• Lead regulatory, market and business change across processes, controls, data and technology.
• Partner with Engineering to improve tax tooling, workflow design, data quality, automation, auditability and scalability.
• Develop team capability through coaching, cross-training, knowledge transfer and stronger operational coverage.

Requirements

• Significant progressive experience in an operational function, including leadership and people-management experience.
• Strong background in operational management, risk and controls, process governance, issue management and continuous improvement.
• Experience leading regulatory or business change from assessment through implementation.
• Understanding of financial-services operations, transaction lifecycles and upstream data or booking dependencies.
• Experience defining business requirements and partnering with Engineering or change teams on controlled technology enhancements.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, stakeholder-management and communication skills, with sound judgment and attention to detail.
