Engineering Group Manager - Software Architecture (Embedded Systems)

Location: Hybrid in Milford, Michigan; onsite attendance required at least three times per week

What you will do

• Lead a team of 12–15 Software Architecture Engineers and Technical Specialists.
• Define and oversee software architecture strategy across vehicle platform domains and embedded controls.
• Establish architecture governance, requirements, best practices, KPIs, and OKRs.
• Drive product roadmap execution and alignment across cross-functional engineering organizations.
• Resolve competing priorities, ambiguity, risks, and conflicts while maintaining delivery momentum.
• Develop technical talent and strengthen software architecture capabilities across the organization.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field.
• 7+ years of experience in embedded control systems and software architecture.
• 4+ years of direct people leadership experience managing and developing engineering teams.
• Experience shaping architecture strategy, influencing governance, and driving alignment on complex system designs.
• Strong knowledge of interacting embedded systems, critical-path systems, and safety-forward design.
• Demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders, resolve priority conflicts, and turn ambiguous ideas into execution plans.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in Engineering or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience in embedded control systems and software architecture.
• 6+ years of engineering leadership experience scaling teams and complex technical initiatives.
• Experience with mechatronic embedded control systems or propulsion, battery, vehicle dynamics, body, or thermal control domains.
