Principal Mixed-Signal Design Engineer, Data Converters

Location: Seattle, Washington, United States. The role involves access to ITAR-controlled information and items; the hire must be a U.S. person or otherwise eligible for a federally issued export-control license.

What you will do

• Architect and design high-speed, wideband ADCs and DACs for demanding RF and mixed-signal applications.
• Lead converter architecture selection and trade studies across bandwidth, sampling rate, resolution, linearity, power, area, and implementation risk.
• Design analog front-ends, sampling circuits, DAC output stages, references, biasing, clocking, and calibration circuitry.
• Own designs from behavioral modeling and transistor-level implementation through layout, verification, tapeout, and silicon characterization.
• Develop calibration and correction techniques and collaborate with DSP, systems, RF, digital, package, and verification engineers.
• Establish converter design methodologies, IP, simulation infrastructure, and best practices while mentoring analog and mixed-signal engineers.

Requirements

• MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering or a related field, with significant industry experience in high-performance analog/mixed-signal IC design.
• Deep expertise designing GHz-class or multi-GS/s ADCs and DACs, including SAR, pipeline, time-interleaved, flash/folding, current-steering, or hybrid architectures.
• Strong experience with wideband analog/RF signal paths, sampling circuits, clocking, references, and low-noise, high-linearity circuit design.
• Experience designing high-performance analog circuits in FinFET technologies and understanding converter impairments such as jitter, noise, distortion, mismatch, timing skew, and interleaving errors.
• Experience taking complex analog/mixed-signal ICs from architecture through tapeout and silicon bring-up.
• Deep proficiency with industry-standard analog/mixed-signal design, simulation, and verification tools.

Nice to have

• Experience with RF-sampling or direct-RF ADC/DAC architectures and multi-GHz instantaneous bandwidth.
• Experience with digitally assisted analog design, background or foreground calibration, and large digital-heavy SoCs.
• Experience with advanced packaging, high-speed I/O, and signal-integrity considerations.
• Experience building new design methodologies and silicon platforms from the ground up.
