Senior UI/UX Engineer (Quantum Computing)

Location: Siegen or Hamburg, Germany; relocation to one of these locations is required.

What you will do

• Own the design direction for the customer-facing cloud platform and internal operator interface.
• Research operator and physicist workflows, including observing calibration processes in the laboratory.
• Create wireframes, interactive prototypes, and high-fidelity designs in Figma.
• Build and maintain a production-ready design system with tested and documented React and TypeScript components.
• Develop visualization patterns for dense telemetry and calibration data.
• Collaborate with backend and platform engineers, validate implemented interfaces through usability testing, and promote accessibility and visual consistency.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional experience in product or interaction design with a portfolio of shipped digital products.
• Strong production experience with TypeScript, React, component testing, and documentation tools such as Storybook.
• Mastery of user research, information architecture, interaction design, prototyping, and visual design.
• Experience designing complex, data-heavy, or expert-user products and owning a design system.
• Experience planning and conducting usability testing and collaborating with domain experts.
• Good written and spoken English and willingness to relocate to Siegen or Hamburg, Germany.

• Experience with WebSockets, streaming telemetry, or real-time browser data.
• Experience with scientific, industrial, or laboratory control software.
• Practical application of WCAG accessibility standards.
• Experience mentoring designers or leading design in a cross-functional team.
• Experience with quantum computing or other deep-tech domains.
