Software Development Engineer, Test Platform (Aerospace)

Location: Los Angeles, CA, United States. The role involves access to ITAR-controlled information and items; the hired candidate must be a U.S. person or otherwise eligible for a federally issued export control license.

Salary: $123,000–$175,000 per year, plus company equity.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and own test automation frameworks for flight software covering propulsion, GNC, power, thermal, and communications subsystems.
• Build automation tooling integrated with CI/CD pipelines to support fast and reliable flight software deployment.
• Develop hardware-in-the-loop and software-in-the-loop test infrastructure with flight software engineers.
• Create tooling for test execution, data collection, anomaly triage, and actionable failure analysis.
• Improve test coverage, execution speed, pipeline reliability, and determinism.
• Collaborate with flight software, avionics, and systems engineers on test requirements, plans, and verification campaigns.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related STEM field, or equivalent professional experience.
• Experience building and maintaining test automation frameworks rather than only executing existing tests.
• Experience with CI/CD systems such as GitLab Pipelines, GitHub Actions, or Jenkins.
• Experience with Git and version control.
• Must be a U.S. person under ITAR regulations or otherwise eligible for a federally issued export control license.

Nice to have

• Experience with HIL testbeds, embedded systems, avionics, spacecraft, robotics, autonomous vehicles, or other safety-critical hardware.
• Rust experience, including embedded or no_std environments, plus knowledge of RTOS or bare-metal firmware.
• Familiarity with aerospace communication protocols, electronics test equipment, Embedded Linux, shell scripting, Docker, or Kubernetes.
