Test Automation Intern (Summer 2027, Aerospace)

Location: Onsite in Redondo Beach, California; collaboration with teams in Mojave. The 12-week internship runs from May/June through August/September 2027, and on-site work is required for its duration.

Compensation: $30.00 per hour. Occasional overtime may be required and is paid at the applicable overtime rate.

What you will do

• Support deployment, integration, and debugging of software tools for data acquisition, hardware control, automation, and test operations.
• Configure, validate, and troubleshoot software and control systems in active test stands and laboratory environments.
• Participate in test operations supporting spacecraft technology development and validation.
• Collaborate with test engineers and operations teams in Redondo Beach and Mojave.
• Contribute to code reviews, documentation, Git-based workflows, and development process improvements.

Requirements

• Recently completed or currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, or a related technical field.
• Coursework or hands-on experience with Python or another object-oriented programming language.
• Ability to take ownership of projects and work effectively in a small, fast-paced team.
• Interest in software interacting with hardware, sensors, test equipment, or control systems.
• Must be willing and able to work onsite in Redondo Beach, California for the entire internship.
• Applicants must be U.S. Persons or eligible to obtain an applicable U.S. export license under ITAR/EAR requirements.

Nice to have

• Experience with data acquisition systems, hardware control, or real-time test environments.
• Working knowledge of DAQs, sensors, power supplies, instrumentation, or other laboratory equipment.
• Experience with LabVIEW, C++, real-time operating systems, or embedded systems development.
• Software or hardware projects completed through academic, competition, or internship work.
