What you will do
- Research the role of storage and memory devices in AI data processing pipelines.
- Analyze how storage and memory hierarchies affect large-scale AI training and inference.
- Collaborate with engineers and architects to define system and chip architectures for AI storage and memory solutions.
- Develop C, C++, or Python performance models and simulations to evaluate architectural trade-offs.
- Analyze performance, latency, and cost, and identify effective hardware/software partitioning for storage and memory controllers.
- Prepare architecture specifications and presentations, and share findings with cross-functional teams.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field, with expected graduation between Fall 2027 and Summer 2028.
- Coursework or research experience in computer architecture, hardware design, programming, and modeling techniques.
- Understanding of AI training and inference algorithms, including large language models and transformer architectures.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, collaboration, and communication skills.
- Must be eligible to access technology and software subject to U.S. export control laws and regulations.
Nice to have
- Knowledge of data center and AI workload system architectures.
- Familiarity with PCIe, NVMe, CXL, NAND, DRAM, SSDs, CPUs, and GPUs.
- Experience with performance analysis tools or architectural simulators.
- Strong programming skills in C, C++, or Python.
