2027 Summer Intern - Electrical Engineering (Facilities Engineering)

Location: Bloomington, Minnesota, United States. Primarily office-based or at an assigned project site; occasional flexible or hybrid arrangements may be available. Local travel for project assignments, meetings, and site visits is required.

Salary: $20–$24 per hour, depending on anticipated graduation date.

What you will do

• Assist Professional Engineers, Designers, and Technicians with studies, design specifications, and detailed drawings for building electrical systems.
• Support design work involving power, lighting, and signal systems, including phone, fire alarm, and security systems.
• Assist with construction administration by interpreting plans, observing construction operations, and maintaining project reports.
• Collaborate with Mechanical, Civil, Structural Engineering, and Architecture professionals in a multidisciplinary environment.
• Contribute to projects across government, education, manufacturing, industrial, maintenance, material handling, and transportation facilities.

Requirements

• Undergraduate student pursuing a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited program.
• Coursework, internship or field experience, or strong interest in designing building electrical systems.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
• Previous experience or formal training with AutoCAD and Revit MEP or similar 3D design software.
• Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, including the ability to contribute to technical reports and specifications.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record and ability to travel locally as needed.

Nice to have

• Understanding of drafting techniques and construction plan development.
• Experience developing construction plans and specifications.
• Experience or training with Revit, AutoCAD, Visual, or similar lighting software.
