Software Engineer II (Java/NoSQL)

Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada; hybrid work model with remote flexibility and in-person collaboration

Salary: CAD 113,702–136,448 per year

What you will do

• Develop new features and improvements for NoSQL data pipeline services.
• Write reliable production code with unit and integration tests.
• Optimize performance and improve system reliability and architecture.
• Break projects into tasks, provide estimates, and participate in code reviews.
• Collaborate across the software development lifecycle, from requirements and design through release and monitoring.
• Resolve customer issues and use AI coding agents for incident resolution, feature development, testing, and investigations.

Requirements

• Expertise in Java development.
• Experience building reliable software for high-volume data management under strict SLAs.
• Experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Experience using AI coding agents in software development.
• Knowledge of NoSQL databases such as MongoDB or Amazon DynamoDB.
• Ability to troubleshoot code, identify root causes, and apply clean code practices.

Nice to have

• Experience with MongoDB or Amazon DynamoDB change data capture.
• Experience developing ETL or ELT data integration tools.
• Experience identifying and optimizing performance bottlenecks in distributed systems.
