Head of Agentic Biology (AI)

Location: Cambridge, MA; hybrid role for US and Puerto Rico residents

What you will do

• Lead the design and deployment of agentic bioinformatics workflows that automate data capture, analysis, and insight generation across therapeutic programs.
• Advance target discovery using genetics, genomics, single-cell, proteomics, imaging, clinical, and pathological data.
• Deliver computational insights for go/no-go portfolio decisions, target validation, drug repurposing, and indication expansion.
• Design and scale bioinformatics infrastructure, data integration, pipelines, AI/ML systems, DataOps, ModelOps, and cloud-native platforms.
• Develop genomic, transcriptomic, and proteomic data lakes with Digital and AI teams.
• Lead and mentor multidisciplinary teams while collaborating with therapeutic areas, internal functions, vendors, CROs, and academia.

Requirements

• PhD in AI, machine learning, immunology, mathematics, physics, biomedical engineering, computational biology, bioinformatics, or a related STEM field.
• At least 5 years of AI/ML experience and familiarity with agentic AI frameworks and autonomous workflow orchestration.
• Hands-on experience with AI-for-science tools, biological foundation models, protein and genomic language models, and multimodal models for drug discovery.
• Deep expertise in disease and target biology across immunology, inflammation, oncology, neuroscience, rare diseases, or ophthalmology.
• Experience with multi-omics, imaging, NGS, patient datasets, data modeling, data integration, AI/ML evaluation, DataOps, ModelOps, and cloud-native AI architectures.
• Proven experience leading matrix and international teams and presenting scientific insights to senior leadership.

Nice to have

• Experience building large-scale biomedical data lakes in a biopharmaceutical setting.
• Experience with drug repurposing, indication expansion, or target-validation programs.
• Experience managing biomedical data vendors, research consortia, and external partnerships.
• Publications in leading biomedical AI/ML or computational biology conferences.
