Senior Mechanical Design Engineer (Medical Devices)

What you will do

• Design and develop mechanical and electromechanical components, assemblies, mechanisms, and systems across research, new product development, and released product engineering.
• Create 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, bills of materials, and technical documentation.
• Perform tolerance stack-up, GD&T, predictive engineering, reliability, manufacturability, and cost analyses.
• Plan and support prototype builds, engineering testing, verification and validation, and qualification of fixtures, jigs, and tools.
• Lead technical investigations, root-cause analysis, corrective actions, design improvements, engineering changes, and manufacturing transfers.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, suppliers, quality, systems, electrical, and test teams, while providing technical guidance and design reviews to other engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline with at least 4 years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree with at least 2 years of relevant experience, or a PhD.
• Strong experience designing mechanical products with precision-machined parts, sheet metal, plastics, mechanisms, and mechanical assemblies.
• Practical knowledge of engineering drawings, GD&T, tolerance stack-up analysis, design for manufacturability, and design verification.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD tools such as Creo and SolidWorks.
• Knowledge of metal and plastic manufacturing processes and experience collaborating with suppliers and manufacturing teams.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work independently and in multidisciplinary teams.

Nice to have

• Medical device development experience and familiarity with relevant standards, guidelines, and regulations.
• Experience with PLM systems, engineering change processes, design controls, risk management, electrical motors, pneumatic systems, wiring, and cabling.
• Experience with process validation, equipment qualification, pFMEA, lean manufacturing, 5S, and structured root-cause analysis.
