What you will do
- Lead front-end engineering development for floorcare products and shape the technology and feasibility roadmap.
- Develop system innovations combining mechanical hardware, sensors, software, batteries, and connectivity.
- Communicate concepts through sketches, CAD layouts, 3D models, and working prototypes.
- Lead engineering studies, failure mode analysis, product testing, and technical solution verification.
- Collaborate with product development, industrial design, brand, test kitchen, advanced development, and continuous improvement teams across the US, UK, and China.
- Coach team members, support autonomous problem solving, and manage multiple floorcare workstreams.
Requirements
- Degree-level qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, Industrial Design, or a related technical discipline.
- Typically 8–10 years of experience in mechanical, electrical, mechatronics, product design, or industrial design roles, preferably in consumer goods, household appliances, or floorcare.
- Experience with plastic, casting, and sheet metal manufacturing processes.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks or Creo, with hands-on experience building prototypes, testing products, and reporting findings.
- Ability to apply mechanical, electrical, software, and systems thinking to identify, implement, and verify technical solutions.
- Ability to work from the London, UK office at Battersea Power Station.
Nice to have
- Experience working with intellectual property teams to track prior art and identify novel or inventive solutions.
- Background in advanced development or R&D environments.
- Experience in floorcare or similar mechanical and electromechanical product categories.
