Senior Manager for Policy

What you will do

• Develop and implement engagement strategies with policymakers, government officials, academics, think tanks, industry associations, and other influential stakeholders.
• Provide strategic policy support aligned with business objectives, therapeutic areas, and policy priorities in Japan.
• Monitor political, legislative, healthcare policy, and regulatory developments, advising senior leaders on risks and opportunities affecting business, reputation, and market access.
• Develop policy projects, evidence-based positions, briefing materials, and external-facing communications.
• Collaborate with business units, Communications, Community Engagement, and global colleagues to design and deliver policy initiatives.
• Represent hirify.global in industry association policy activities and work with third-party organizations to raise public awareness.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant professional experience.
• Professional-level fluency in Japanese and English, with excellent written and verbal communication skills in both languages.
• Typically 8 or more years of relevant experience.
• In-depth understanding of policymaking processes, legislative procedures, and regulatory frameworks.
• Strong understanding of the interaction between government, politics, and business, with the ability to manage complex stakeholder relationships.
• Ability to coordinate and negotiate with government officials, policymakers, industry representatives, and other stakeholders on high-impact issues.

Nice to have

• Understanding of Japan’s healthcare policy environment, including National Health Insurance, drug pricing and reimbursement, health technology assessment, medicines regulation, and market access.
• Established relationships with relevant stakeholders, patient groups, or non-governmental organizations.
• Strong project management skills for cross-departmental initiatives.
