TL;DR
Field Service Engineer (Mechanical & Electro-Mechanical Systems): Maintaining, calibrating, installing, and repairing materials testing systems at customer facilities across Texas with an accent on mechanical, electrical, and software troubleshooting. Focus on diagnosing complex equipment issues, commissioning new systems, delivering hands-on customer training, and supporting field operations with approximately 75% overnight travel.
Location: Home-based in Houston, Texas, supporting customers throughout Texas; frequent field travel and approximately 75% routine overnight travel are required.

What you will do
- Travel to customer facilities to perform preventive maintenance, equipment calibration, troubleshooting, repairs, installation, and commissioning.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and software-related issues in materials testing systems.
- Provide technical guidance, hands-on training, and customer support.
- Complete service documentation, field reports, and expense reports accurately.
- Follow company and customer safety procedures while maintaining professional service standards.
- Support customers throughout Texas and occasionally travel outside the region for training, customer support, or special projects.
Requirements
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in engineering technology, electronics, mechanical engineering, mechatronics, or a related technical field; military technical experience or trade school training may substitute.
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to read electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
- Comfort working with Windows-based computers and technical software.
- Strong organization, communication, customer service, and independent working skills.
- Ability to travel daily throughout Houston and Texas, with approximately 75% routine overnight travel.
Nice to have
- Previous field service experience.
- Preventive or corrective maintenance experience with electro-mechanical or servo-hydraulic equipment.
- Experience with materials testing systems.
- Experience delivering hands-on and classroom technical training.
- Industrial automation or controls experience.
