Principal Equipment Engineer (Biopharmaceutical Manufacturing)

Location: Rensselaer, New York, United States; On-site, Monday–Friday, 08:30–16:30

Salary: $103,300–$168,500 annually

What you will do

• Provide technical leadership across equipment engineering initiatives supporting industrial operations and product supply.
• Specify cGMP process equipment, components, and spare parts, and evaluate functional equivalence.
• Guide design reviews, site acceptance, installation, commissioning, testing, and equipment readiness for manufacturing areas.
• Develop equipment lifecycle, reliability, obsolescence, corrective-action, and replacement strategies.
• Prepare engineering evaluations, test plans, design documents, specifications, and change-control documentation.
• Lead investigations and criticality assessments, support regulatory inspections, and mentor engineers and contractors.

Requirements

• BS/BA in Mechanical, Chemical, Biochemical, or related Engineering field with 8+ years of directly related experience.
• Experience supporting process equipment in a regulated manufacturing environment.
• Proven success leading technical projects, investigations, and multifunctional initiatives.
• Strong understanding of equipment lifecycle management, reliability, and change-control practices.
• Effective communication skills and the ability to influence technical and operational decisions.
• Ability to work on-site in manufacturing and process areas, including walking, standing, navigating production areas, and wearing required gowning and personal protective equipment.

Nice to have

• Experience with biopharmaceutical manufacturing operations.
• Familiarity with validation, commissioning, or capital projects.
• Experience mentoring engineers or providing technical leadership.
