Program Director, Hampton Roads Chapter

Location: Hampton Roads, VA; remote/virtual office, with residence required in the local community served by the chapter. Local travel and transporting supplies for chapter events may be required up to 60% of the time, along with periodic out-of-town and overnight travel.

Salary: $69,000–$88,000 annually at commencement of employment.

What you will do

• Manage local chapter programs, events, strategic calendars, and community presence.
• Support fundraising through opportunity identification, proposal development, relationship stewardship, and revenue planning.
• Build partnerships with private, public, philanthropic, and community organizations serving military families.
• Recruit, engage, and manage volunteers, fellows, and interns.
• Execute marketing and communications initiatives, including social media and membership growth activities.
• Track program metrics, implement national policies locally, and support advocacy and chapter operations.

Requirements

• 4–5 years of relevant experience.
• Experience with volunteer recruitment and management, fundraising or business development, project management, public speaking, and meeting facilitation.
• Exceptional interpersonal, communication, writing, organizational, and technology skills.
• Ability to lift and carry supplies and equipment up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to travel locally and transport equipment and supplies for chapter events up to 60% of the time.
• Must reside in the Hampton Roads local community and be available for occasional nights, weekends, holidays, and overnight travel.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Knowledge of the military family experience.
• CRM experience, with Salesforce familiarity preferred.
• Experience with membership-driven organizations.
