Risk Operations Associate (Fintech)

Location: Must be based in Toronto, ON and able to work hybrid

Salary: $61,200 CAD – $74,800 CAD per year

What you will do

• Review and decision new business applications, including KYC/KYB, document verification, and fraud analysis.
• Detect patterns of synthetic identities, fraudulent documents, and business profile inconsistencies.
• Document reviews clearly to support compliance and risk strategy decisions.
• Suggest improvements to onboarding rules and controls to reduce false positives and block bad actors.
• Balance fraud prevention with customer experience to ensure legitimate businesses are onboarded efficiently.
• Utilize AI tools daily to accelerate investigations and improve team workflows.

Requirements

• Must be based in Toronto, ON and able to work hybrid.
• Must be available for one of two schedules: Wednesday–Sunday or Monday–Friday (1:00pm–9:00pm ET).
• Recent graduate or early-career professional with strong judgment and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in SQL to pull and analyze data independently.
• Experience with AI tools and a concrete example of their application in your work.
• Exposure to fintech, banking, payments, or risk operations through coursework or projects.

Nice to have

• Prior experience in queue-based operations, support, or moderation.
• Working knowledge of KYC/KYB compliance standards.
• Customer-experience instinct focused on reducing friction.
