Senior Ground Software Engineer I (Aerospace)

Location: Onsite at hirify.global's site in Littleton, Colorado, United States. U.S. citizenship is required due to program requirements and ITAR-related restrictions.

Salary: $115,000–$155,000 USD annually, plus potential stock or cash incentives.

What you will do

• Own major parts of the architecture for web-based ground software platforms supporting spacecraft operations.
• Translate mission needs into scalable ground system designs in partnership with flight software, mission operations, and systems engineering teams.
• Deploy, configure, and optimize the hirify.global Ground Data System for diverse mission profiles.
• Establish monitoring, alerting, and reliability frameworks to detect and mitigate operational issues.
• Provide technical direction on mission resilience, system integration, maintainability, and long-term ground software strategy.
• Advise leadership on architectural decisions, technical risks, and emerging technologies.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or another technical discipline.
• At least 5 years of relevant professional software development experience.
• Experience architecting web-based software systems at scale.
• Strong systems-level thinking and the ability to balance performance, security, and maintainability trade-offs.
• U.S. citizenship is required.

Nice to have

• Full-stack experience with Python, Golang or Rust, Typescript, Angular, InfluxDB, or PostgreSQL.
• Experience with Playwright, Python web frameworks such as FastAPI, microservices, and distributed systems.
• Aerospace experience supporting satellite, spacecraft, constellation, launch vehicle, or mission operations.
• Experience with Git workflows, CI/CD, Kubernetes, database architecture, authentication, and authorization frameworks.
• Knowledge of CCSDS standards, including Space Packet Protocol, COP-1, and CFD.
