TL;DR
AI Robotics Research Engineer (Physical AI) (Robotics/AI): Developing learning systems, simulation environments, and real-world deployment pipelines for robots with an accent on perception, planning, manipulation, and sim-to-real workflows. Focus on training reinforcement-learning and imitation-learning systems, integrating robot hardware, and building vision-language-action and world-model capabilities.

Location: On-site in San Francisco, California, United States; this role is not remote

Salary: $100,000–$300,000 USD annually

What you will do

  • Develop robot learning systems, including policies, world models, and vision-language-action models.
  • Build simulation environments, evaluation frameworks, and infrastructure for robotics research.
  • Advance computer vision and perception algorithms for autonomous robots.
  • Connect simulation with real-world deployment through real-to-sim and sim-to-real pipelines.
  • Train and evaluate reinforcement-learning and imitation-learning systems for manipulation, locomotion, and mobile platforms.
  • Integrate robot platforms, sensors, actuators, and embedded systems to prototype and validate capabilities.

Requirements

  • Research or engineering experience in robotics and AI beyond academic experiments; strong new graduates are welcome.
  • Strong software skills in C++ and Python.
  • Practical experience with deep learning, reinforcement learning, and computer vision.
  • Hands-on experience with real-to-sim or sim-to-real robotics workflows.
  • Familiarity with simulation platforms such as Isaac Lab, MuJoCo, MJX, or Genesis.
  • Authorization to work in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available.

Nice to have

  • Exposure to transformers, diffusion models, world models, vision-language-action models, LLMs, or AI agents.
  • Experience with 3D modeling tools and additional robotics hardware.
