Senior Director, Clinical Scientist - Neurodegeneration

Location: Remote from a location within the U.S. or hybrid at the New Haven, Connecticut headquarters. Domestic and international travel may be required, approximately 20%.

What you will do

• Provide scientific and clinical leadership for global development plans and program-level decisions in Parkinson’s disease, progressive supranuclear palsy, and related neurodegenerative disorders.
• Partner with clinical research physicians and cross-functional teams to design and execute Phase 1–3 studies, with emphasis on early-phase, proof-of-mechanism, and proof-of-concept development.
• Translate safety, pharmacokinetic, pharmacodynamic, biomarker, imaging, and clinical data into dose-selection, study-design, and program decisions.
• Lead or contribute to protocols, investigator brochures, clinical study reports, regulatory documents, presentations, publications, and other clinical deliverables.
• Oversee clinical data review, medical monitoring plans, endpoint quality, rater qualification, study conduct, and interpretation of benefit-risk information.
• Build relationships with investigators, key opinion leaders, patient advocacy organizations, research networks, vendors, partners, and external experts.

Requirements

• 10+ years of relevant pharmaceutical or biotechnology clinical-development experience, including global interventional studies and leadership of early-phase development.
• Demonstrated clinical-development experience in neurodegenerative disease or movement disorders; Parkinson’s disease, PSP, atypical parkinsonism, or related conditions are strongly relevant.
• Strong knowledge of ICH-GCP, clinical study design, statistics, clinical operations, drug development, and global regulatory expectations.
• Experience interpreting longitudinal efficacy endpoints, clinical rating scales, rater variability, disease progression, placebo effects, and missing data in neurodegeneration trials.
• Advanced scientific or clinical degree required; a doctoral-level degree is preferred, while an MSc/MPH with extensive relevant experience may be considered.
• Must be able to work without current or future visa sponsorship.

Nice to have

• Leadership of global Phase 1, Phase 1b, proof-of-mechanism, or proof-of-concept studies.
• Experience with PSP or Parkinson’s disease trials, disease-progression studies, neurodegeneration endpoints, biomarkers, imaging, digital measures, or wearable sensors.
• Experience with targeted protein degradation, tau, alpha-synuclein, lysosomal biology, genetically defined mechanisms, biologics, or small molecules.
• Experience with multinational study operations, central or remote rater programs, CSF sampling, independent monitoring committees, and interactions with FDA, EMA, or other health authorities.
