Senior Automation Engineer (Pharmaceutical Manufacturing)

Location: Onsite in Kalamazoo, Michigan, United States

Annual base salary: $82,700–$137,900, plus eligibility for a 10% bonus target.

What you will do

• Contribute to moderately complex automation engineering projects and deliver work against established targets.
• Complete periodic reviews, including the automation engineering validation master plan.
• Prepare software test plans, user requirements, and system design documentation.
• Support automation compliance projects and computerized system compliance activities.
• Perform routine and preventive maintenance to keep equipment and facilities safe and efficient.
• Collaborate with engineering teams and contribute to planning, organization, and team execution.

Requirements

• High school diploma with 8+ years of experience, associate’s degree with 6+ years, BA/BS with 2+ years, or MBA/MS with relevant experience.
• Professional experience in automation engineering and hands-on automation compliance projects.
• Experience with process controls equipment and a strong understanding of computerized systems, compliance regulations, and standards.
• Strong planning, time management, teamwork, and communication skills.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States by any employer and hold permanent U.S. work authorization.
• U.S. work visa sponsorship is not available now or in the future.

Nice to have

• Pharmaceutical industry experience and knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices.
• Programming experience in at least one language.
• Ability to train others and strong problem-solving skills.
• Experience using generative AI tools such as ChatGPT or Microsoft Copilot, including responsible AI and risk management practices.
